CRM Scholarships to RIMS Chapter Members

The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research (TNA) is excited to offer this program, reviewed and approved by national RIMS, to further promote risk management education among the RIMS chapter members. The criterion for the program is as follows:

  • Two scholarships for any Certified Risk Managers (CRM) course (classroom or online) are available to the chapter on an annual basis.  The criterion for application is as follows.  The applicant must

§  Be either a risk manager or a risk management professional pursuing a career in risk management

§  Be a first-time participant in a CRM course

§  Employed full-time in the insurance or risk management industry

§  Minimum of two years industry experience

§  Be willing to take the exam at the end of the course; a passing grade is not required

§  Demonstrate a commitment to professional continuing education

Promote our Profession –
many companies have organically developed successful risk management professionals and to continue this trend, the committee seeks opportunities to promote our profession to high school and college students through:

Host a Career Panel, risk managers speak to career counselors on career pathing and opportunities

High school outreach in a classroom setting.  Risk managers and brokers speak on what they do and how they got there;

Partner with Seattle Public Schools Academy of Finance – thanks to Jo Ann Garrett, Pinnacle Family of Companies and Susan Strong, Greater Seattle YMCA for speaking ; 

Central Washington University: Risk & Safety Course – Julie Yount, Grant County PUD spoke to their risk and safety class;

Washington State University’s Industry Night  and annual program field trip. Thanks to T-Mobile and AON for hosting students this year


Educate our Members – Provide information regarding classes in ARM and CPCU among others via our website;  

Risk Manger Closed Sessions; All Industry Half Day 

 

Community Services/Affairs – we’re looking for a physical and hands on project to give back to the community as respects risk management! If you have an idea on what to do, let us know!

Financial Support - through our various events and generosity of our Chapter Sponsors, we have been able to provide risk management financial support to Washington State University's advancement of the risk management profession; Spencer Education Foundation and Academy of Finance.   We also provide financial support to members who may need it .
